Product Description
Today, modern science confirms that amaranth is truly a supergrain. Amaranth is rich in lysine, one of the essential amino acids that is usually low in other grains. It contains three times as much fiber and five times as much iron as wheat, and has more than 12 different vitamins and minerals. From a nutritional standpoint, it is clear why the Aztecs referred to amaranth as a "wonder grain."

One bowl of delicious amaranth a day, with rice milk and sliced banana - that's my recipe for good health and (regular) digestion. Amaranth flakes are delicious, too. The nuggets (discontinued many years ago) were even tastier. If you're looking for something good to eat, something that's not going to upset your stomach, something that you're going to look forward to eating every day, give amaranth products a try. You'll soon discover why it's called "the mystical grain of the Aztecs." 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Tomas (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Health Valley Organic Sprouted Amaranth Flakes, 12.65-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) (Grocery) This is an aggravating cereal to love. The flakes have a great flavor, do not get soggy in milk and the stuff is nutritious. We eat it every day.The aggravating part is that only 'health food' stores in Chicago carry it though the manufacturer swears we can get it in the two major chains here - Dominick's (Safeway) and Jewel (Albertson's). Neither grocery ever has it on their shelves, however. The truly aggravating part is that after two years of reliable availability from Amazon it disappeared from the website! The 16 oz. box size has re-appeared and can be ordered through Amazon from another vendor (at twice the price). I am thrilled beyond words that the 12.5 oz. size has become available directly from Amazon. Hopefully it remain indefinitely. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Health Valley Organic Sprouted Amaranth Flakes, 12.65-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) (Grocery) I used to order this cerial by the case and eat it every day. When my most recent order arrived, they had changed the recipe. The cerial is now terrible. It is too sweet and tastes like molasses. Definitely not recommended. |
