It contains rolled whole grain rye, barley, oats, and wheat in that order. It is a great hot breakfast on a chilly morning and a nice change from oatmeal. I like it slightly undercooked and topped with a sliced banana and raisins with a splash of milk. As far as nutrition, a half cup has 5g of fiber! At first I was buying the McCann's, and then I stumbled onto the Country Choice(also Irish style steel cut), which I found just as tasty and satisfying a meal but at a much better deal here. The Steel Cut Oats have a very different texture from regular oatmeal - creamy but a little chewier feel which I really liked and also it was a meal that kept me going until lunch time without feeling hungry. The steel cut usually takes about 25-30 minutes to prepare and I found they are well worth the wait. So seeing these and the reviews saying how good they were, I thought I'd add a little variety to my mornings, and reap the benefits of some other type of whole grains. I do not see how you could improve the product, as it it spot on perfect. I gave it 5 stars. |
